The dual-renovation of the old Post Office on Stockport Road, Marple, has been the talk of the town ever since planning permission was originally granted in June 2019.

Phase one of the renovation was completed when Big Matts Burger Bar opened, but the completion of the project was given a further boon when the licensing committee granted the new owners, Red N Black, a license to serve alcohol on site until 1am on a Friday and Saturday, and midnight for the rest of the week.

Red N Black director, Ian Watson, was quoted as telling the licensing sub-committee that they were looking to open a Bistro style bar, and the option has been granted to play both recorded and live music.

We, for one, are excited to see how the old Post Office will look once finished, and hopefully restrictions at the time allow the Marple Community to fully enjoy the refurbishment.
